OUR TUTORS
The tutoring
At WIJs Bijles we offer tutoring in Amsterdam for primary and secondary school students of all levels (from pre-vocational secondary education to pre-university education). These tutoring sessions can focus on a specific subject, such as Dutch, English or mathematics. We also offer broader tutoring that focuses on planning, doing homework and/or learning to learn. The location of the tutoring, for example at school or at home, is determined in consultation.
The tutoring process
Every tutoring process starts with an intake interview, in which the needs and wishes of the child are determined. This determines how WIJs Bijles can best help the child. In addition, it is discussed what preferences the child and his/her parents/guardians have regarding location (online, home, other place), day and time. After the intake interview, the child can start tutoring. At WIJs Bijles, a short report is made of each tutoring lesson and sent to the parents/guardians. The student's process can be monitored through these reports. We also ask the tutor and the child to regularly evaluate how the tutoring is going.
Who is eligible for free tutoring?
At WIJs we find it especially important that our tutoring is accessible to those who need it. That is why we talk to each student individually during an intake to get to know each other and see what we can do.
WIJs Bijles also works closely with schools to ensure that children who need it have access to tutoring. We believe that teachers have the best insight into the needs of their students.
Quality of the tutoring
WIJs Bijles believes it is important that the quality of the tutoring is guaranteed. The tutors at WIJs Bijles are therefore screened and trained prior to the tutoring. Our team consists of motivated bachelor's and master's students who have an affinity with our mission. WIJs Bijles is a non-profit organization, so all financial resources are spent on the quality of the tutoring.
Prices
Tutoring costs €40 per hour.
With this amount you pay for tutoring for your own child, and you contribute to tutoring for another child for whom tutoring would otherwise not be accessible.
We charge a monthly administration fee of €5 for the free tutoring.

Because we offer free tutoring, we think it is important that this tutoring reaches the target group for which it is intended. We would like to ask you to take this into account in your registration. If you have any questions about this, please feel free to contact us.
It is possible to refer students as a school, teacher or other third party. Please contact us by telephone or e-mail.In addition, WIJs collaborates with schools and other agencies that refer students to us.
